I have a tiny reindeer. He says his name is Bob.
The winsome tale of Bob opens this book of seven Boynton Christmas stories. Using the colorful picture tabs, little children can choose the story they want to hear:
* Bob
* Merry Christmas Party
* The Star
* A Big Box
* Eight Wishes
* Wake Up!
* Christmas Lullaby
Every perfectly silly selection is just right for snuggling by, all December long. And highly approved by Bob.

Amazon.com Review
We've met Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and more recently, Olive, the Other Reindeer... but wait! Here comes Bob--a tiny, silly reindeer created by the beloved Sandra Boynton. Bob can be quite an entertaining companion around Christmastime, but there seems to be some question about his existence: "My sister won't believe in/ my tiny reindeer friend/ she says there's no such reindeer/ but why would Bob pretend?"

Bob introduces us to seven delightful holiday stories, sharing good company with a fine menagerie of daffy creatures including some very merry dairy cows, anxious bears, long-eared hounds, and a rather doubtful hippo who would just as soon not receive a bikini from Santa. These endearing animals wistfully share their dreams for a merry Christmas as they wish and wait for Santa, occasionally letting loose with a few sweet, funny songs. Boynton has created another classic with these hilarious, touching holiday tales. (Baby to preschool) --Marianne Painter

From Publishers Weekly
'Tis the season to be silly, particularly when Boynton's at the helm. A tiny reindeer named Bob kicks off this set of seven merry poems (and, in fact, sneaks into the other six). The verse is cheery ("The turkey is loud. The donkey is, too./ The rooster joins in, so why shouldn't you?"), the presentation crisp, and the board book packs an added bonus: as in Snoozers, a tabbed index allows little fingers to select a favorite tale in a trice. But it's Boynton's signature cartoons, in her expert balance of tender and goofy, that will draw the crowds. All ages. (Oct.)

From School Library Journal
PreSchool-K-Boynton's cartoon characters-reindeer, pigs, ducks, cows, and hippos-are big-eyed, round-tummied, and energetic. Each of these seven brief "stories" occurs in its entirety on a double-page spread and is told in rhyme; the final selection is a lullaby, complete with music. Bright artwork, appealingly goofy text, and subjects of intrinsic interest (finding a box big enough to wrap a hippo in, a reindeer tinier than a teacup) add up to a winning, fun-filled formula.-S.P.

Doesn't live up to "Snoozers"
By A Customer
This book is in the same format as Snoozers, which has been one of my 4-year-old's favorites since she was 2. I ordered this as soon as I saw it, hoping it would be as good. It's not. It's cute, but the rhymes are more forced, the stories are less clever, and the song at the end is barely singable (unlike the goofy and endearing "Silly Lullaby") in Snoozers. This isn't a complete loser, but unlike it's predecessor, I'm not buying extra copies as gifts.

Another winner from Boynton
By cmp
My twins received "Bob" from Grammy at their first Christmas, when they weren't even one. It remains a favorite, even now that they are two. I don't dare box it up with the Christmas stuff - we read it almost daily, even though it's definitely a seasonal book. They love to find Bob's picture in each story, and definitely get a kick out of the rhythms, which is also my favorite thing about any of Boynton's books.
This one's a winner in my house!
