Grade 5-8?Jennie McGrady, 16, is a self-styled amateur detective whose skills are put to the ultimate test when her 5-year-old brother, Nick, disappears. The neighborhood is scoured, the police are notified, and Jennie's extended family rallies to support her mother as they wait out the ordeal. Strange circumstances and false clues abound, including the arrival of a suspicious youth in the house across the street, the discovery that two other people are missing, and the obscure revelation that Jennie's absent father has been given a new identity to protect him from unnamed enemies. Love interest appears in Jennie's attraction to a police officer, as well as in the eventual return of her boyfriend, who had been in Alaska for the summer but comes home to Oregon to be by her side. Most unsatisfying is the leisurely sense of time in a tale that should be fraught with urgency and with the strain of great emotion, as the likelihood looms that Nick has been kidnapped and possibly killed. Events mount to a melodramatic conclusion when the insane perpetrator forces Jennie's Mustang off a rainy road and later takes the teen at gunpoint to a secluded cabin where the captives are finally found. Despite a happy ending, readers are left with a sense of too many loose ends and too many stilted emotions.?Susan W. Hunter, Riverside Middle School, Springfield, VT

Gr. 6^-9. In the fifth book in the Jennie McGrady Mysteries series, the irrepressible heroine's sleuthing skills are once again tested, this time when her five-year-old brother and one of his playmates disappear. When Jennie and her boyfriend are nearly killed by a driver who deliberately forces their car off the road, the tension heightens. The mystery doesn't require a lot of analysis to enjoy, but the suspense builds nicely, there are suspects aplenty to rule out, and the special relationship Jennie has with her grandmother, a sleuth in her own right and a woman Jennie believes has a direct line to God, seems genuine. The Perfect Mystery
By A Customer
My cousin loaned me this book along with Dying To Win and In Too Deep. I started reading it as soon as I got home. From the very beginning there's a mystery. The first page makes you want to keep on reading so that you'll find out what's going to happen. When you read this book you have all of these guesses on who's the criminal, and in the end, you figure out that none of them were right. Just when you think you know exactly who the criminal is, you either start to suspect someone else or Jennie has a good reason for the criminal ot to be him/her. I never wanted to stop reading this book because I had no idea who the real criminal was. In the end, the criminal turned out to be someone wha wasn't even on my suspect list. This mystery is full of danger and suspense. Many times Jennie almosts gets herself killed while investigating. If you LOVE mysteries like Nancy Drew, add this series to your list of favorite books. I wouldn't reccomend reading this book at night because eventually you'll get too tired and have to stop.

Melissa Abundis review
By Carol Saldana
The book Without A Trace by author Patricia H. Rushford is really interesting and mysterious. It includes a girl named Jennie who is willing to solve any mystery. In addition Jennie is really worried for her brother Nick who is lost, and the police can't find him.
The book is really entertaining for lots of reasons. It made me curious to find out what really happen. The book doesn't tell you what happens right away. It tries to confuse you to make you more curios than what you already are. Eventually it made me feel like a detective because it puts me in the situation.
I recommended you read "Without a Trace" if you like reading mystery books th t gives you specific clues to find out what really happen.
